I spend all day reading, reviewing and analyzing information, Most of it isn’t much fun. (At least for the non-techno-finance-geek.)
But there are three daily emails that provide that I look forward to reading every day.
1) DataTrek - In their words “Your Daily Guide to Markets, Data and Disruption.” I’ve known Co-Founder Nick Colas for a couple of decades and he is an assiduous student of markets and equities. He’s got a ton of experience and in my opinion he and his Co-Founder Jessica provide the best birds-eye view on US equity markets every day. Their depth, style and attention to detail go beyond mainstream financial publications which I don’t bother to read at all.
It’s the most expensive of the bunch but worth it to me. If you’re interested you can email Jessica at datatrekresearch.com and she will provide more information and set you up. Mention Kris Tuttle sent you so they know I’m touting their virtues!
2) NextDraft by Dave Pell is on the opposite end of the spectrum - it’s a curated collection of “The Day’s Most Fascinating News.” Dave spends all day scanning all the news out there and packages it up into a daily email with links that gives you the skinny with a little bit of attitude. He leans a bit left but every news outlet has a bias. His free newsletter allows me to avoid spending any time looking at mainstream news. Dave rounds it up. It’s free so certainly worth a try. Sign up here if you like.
3) Numlock News is the newest service I am enjoying. Assertions without numbers to back them up are just nonsense to me. It’s the difference between truthiness and the truth. Numbers also give you the magnitude of something. Numlock tends to focus on news stories that you might not otherwise see and shares those that are backed by supporting data and numbers. There is a free level but I am happy to pay the $5/month for this one. You can sample/sign up here - Numlock News.
There’s a lot more to be sure but these are a good start. The three give you mainstream, off-the-beaten path with data and investment market intelligence. Those are three big boxes to check off.
Do you have a service like this you enjoy? Feel free to share it!
